Cerreta Candy Company

This is a rather small candy factory with few employees, but do not be deceived by the small building. Two employees walked us through how the candy is made, from the melting of the chocolate, to pouring it into the molds, and then finally to wrapping. The tour was free and personal - you felt like you were a part of the candy-making process. Afterwards, the kids made chocolate pizzas (that was not free). They loved playing with the chocolate and making their own designs. All in all, everyone enjoyed it.

Cerreta Candy Company has a factory in Glendale, Arizona. They offer two free 30-minute tours Monday-Thursday, the first one at 10 am and the second one at 1pm. They also have featured specialties daily.

When my friend and I visited, we happened to miss the tour by half an hour. We saw some folks at the end of their tour. There were some children finishing up making their chocolate pizzas. I was looking for toffee for my sister, but that happened to be the featured chocolate of the day, so they were completely out. The only toffee left was the sugar-free kind, and my sister and I do not like sugar-free products.

I ended up buying a few camelbacks (their version of turtles) and a few chocolate bars for gifts. Next time that I'm in Phoenix, I'll make sure that I visit in time for their tours, now that I know the schedule. They also sell their candy through mail order or online. Their phone numbers are: 623-930-9000 or 623-930-9085 fax. Check out their website.

Cerreta's is a family owned and operated candy company in Phoenix which gives tours of it's facility.

The tours are done M-F at 10:00 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. They are free and last about 1/2 hour. You can actually see the candy production lines in operation. Depending on what candies they are producing on any given day, you may be able to see the line and operation better at some times than at others.

Samples are given and questions are answered as the tour progresses. They have a retail shop as part of their plant and candy may be purchased while you're there...although there is no pressure to do so.

At other times, they have a set of Video Monitors with a taped tour that they will start up and run for you to see.
