Description
Just containing the remains of revolutionary hero Jose Martí makes this cemetery one of the most famous on the island; however, it also shelters the remains of the 26th of July Martyrs in the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes vault. Thanks to the monumental size of its graves, the place is equal in standing to the Columbine Cemetery, and a great number of Cuban heroes are buried here. The cemetery is divided into patios in different styles: the first one is neoclassical, the intermediate is eclectic, and the back patio is art deco.
