It is (another) log flume that starts off a bit like the film where you are taking a gentile ride through Jurassic Park and learning about the dinosaurs that live there. But, part way through your boat goes off course and you end up in the carnivore enclosure where the raptors and T-Rex are playing havoc. The only way out is down a particularly high water shoot of course. It’s great and because the boats that go round it seat about 25 people each, the queues for it are never that big. The animatronics throughout the ride are very impressive too.

If you want to see what the ride is like before you have a go, you can go to the splash zone and watch people coming down the chute. Although do beware, it does exactly what it says it does and you will get soaked - more so than you do on the ride itself in fact!

There is another ride called Pteranodon Flyers, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you too much about this one because it is only for people under 56 inches unless you are flying with someone under 36 inches. The kids riding it seemed to be having a lot of fun on it though. The whole of Jurassic Park is good for children though because there are a couple of other things that they’ll enjoy, including the Discovery Centre which is a bit like the one on the film where you can do various things like seeing what you would look like as a dinosaur and watching an egg hatch. It’s quite fun though and we spent a bit of time here wandering around. The final attraction here is Camp Jurassic which kids will love as it involves huge dinosaur nets and caves to explore, we loved being like two big kids in this bit and there are some water guns at the top where you can take aim at unsuspecting people walking past underneath!

There are lots of shops here where you can get Jurassic Park souvenir and all kinds of things for even pocket money budgets. There is also a restaurant near the Discovery Centre that sells the burger and chip type thing that you’d expect and there are plenty of tables so you can rest your weary feet at what is about the halfway point in the park.

With some "scientific" overtones and many references to the movie, ...Read more When you've had your fill of the Dueling Dragons and are ready to leave The Lost Continent it's time to visit the Jurassic Park, where scientists have brought dinosaurs back to life. With some "scientific" overtones and many references to the movie, this island offers a different combination of fun and learning not found elsewhere. (Side Note: I think Steven Spielberg helped create the Island, which aids in its authenticity.)

Entering Jurassic Park, you will go under the large gates popular from the film. Then the movie music starts and this all reminds you that yes, this is a Universal Studios theme park.

Let's get to the fun.

Attractions
This really is a place for the kids. The Discovery Center offers some hands-on fun that tricks people into actually learning something. Specifically for kids is the Pteranodo Flyers and Camp Jurassic. With Pteranodo Flyers, young kids get to ride their own Pteranodo over a section of the Island. Camp Jurassic is a playground, which is a good way for parents to let their kids play in a safe place without worrying about lines. As I mentioned before, I don't have kids so I don't know how enjoyable these are, but I have seen lots of eager parents at both.
The largest attraction at Jurassic Park is geared more towards adults, and kids who like a little adventure. The Jurassic Park River Adventure takes you on a guided river tour of the Park's facilities. Here you get to meet all the friendly dinosaurs. Just like the movie, something goes wrong and just like that the peaceful ride becomes an adventure life-saving thrill. This is not a Roller Coaster, but definitely had a drop on it that made me wish it were possible to scream even louder than I was already screaming. There's always a long line, and the ride is comparably short, but it is a lot of fun. Though it is a water ride, most people don't seem to get drastically wet.

Food
There are four places to get refreshments at Jurassic Park. The very first time I went to Island of Adventure I ate at the counter service restaurant Pizza Predattoria. I was surprised that a theme park was able to produce such a delicious pizza. The Burger Digs is also a counter service place, that serves burgers and other meals you will find at fast food restaurants. The only twist is this place is definitely tastier. Thunder Falls Terrace reminds me a lot of the Enchanted Oak Tavern at the Lost Continent. I think it's because you order and eat inside the terrace. It is delicious. To be honest, I don't typically eat a lot before I get to Jurassic Park because I've already satisfied my hunger at a previous island. I do, however, get quite thirst and IOA helps quench that thirst with the Watering Hole. Right at the edge of Jurassic Park and the Lost Continet this stand provides an opportunity to get alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. It's a popular stop at the park.

Shopping
Dinosaur paraphernalia is not my thing, but if it's yours you have two chances to get your fill. The Discover Center has dinosaur which covers a wide range of dinosaur fun. Jurassic Outfitters at the end of the River Adventure sells ride-related merch, as well as pictures taken while you were on the ride!

This ends the scientific Jurassic Park Journey. Be prepared for the brightly colored, water-ride filled island known as TOON LAGOON. Close
