Description
The late night final newspaper, nicknamed by Quito's residents as the 'Diario Quitenp'(Quito Diary), is the newspaper with the largest circulation in the city. Soon after it was founded in the 1960s, the owners decided to create an event seeking to integrate all of the country's sportsmen. This is how 'La Carrera Utimas Noticias' (The Late Night Final Race) came about, which takes place every year around June. The competition is divided in several groups: amateur, professional, women, men, kids and teens. The race starts at 8am and runs along the streets, from the north to the south. Thousands of people gather along the route to cheer and applaud the passing runners.
