The museum
In the hall you can buy the tickets. You can then look around inside and outside and there are three large vessels that you can view inside and out. Inside are three permanent exhibitions:
And Ship-yard, in a huge space, you can see everything and learn about shipbuilding, armaments and navigation. There are many computer games do you learn how the radar works, how you can receive and send messages over the air. Alone in this space, you can spend hours. -Historical presentations of the Dutch Navy of the 15 to the 20 th century.
History of each museum ship and life aboard. It is fun and interesting to hear how it all aboard mines. Furthermore, there are always temporary exhibitions.
There is the museum a large collection of paintings, ship models, weapons, uniforms, communication equipment and utensils thoroughly.
The three museum ships
Submarine-Tuna, we found that part-the very best of the museum. With a narrow ladder style brings you into the belly of the submarine contact. If you're there you realize how small and narrow it is. Pass each other was a hard job. Sleeping in the very narrow beds is probably also no fun. When we were there was a man there who knew everything from their own experience to tell, this was very interesting and fun.
Ramschip-Scorpio, this ship is the halfdek the museum restaurant, we've got nothing to eat or drink so I can not tell.
Crijnssen-minesweeper Abraham, a large ship.
The submarine was a favourite with everyone, then the exhibition ship and yard.
Toilets:
The toilets looked neatly groomed, it was not so busy in the museum so that also makes a difference already
Disability:
The museum is largely accessible for disabled people. Only the submarine boat and minesweeper are unattainable. The building has a lift chairs and wheelchairs may be used, who will be there.
My experience:
We have been to this museum, there is too much to see and do for a visit. For small children, especially the ships was the favourite all the recent scary years ago for the steep stairs to go in the submarine. The staff is very friendly and helpful and would like to tell. It is a very inexpensive outing for a whole day fun. The only drawback might be its location, especially at Den Helder. From a lot of parts of the Netherlands quite a ride. This is a nice museum for young and old.
You have to watch that on weekends the museum was opened at 12.00 hours.
