Afflecks Palace, an Alternative Department Store

A historical building housing an indoor market and is located at the junction of Church Street/Tib Street and Dale Street with Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter of Manchester in England. Selling club and fetish fashion, 30's-80's vintage clothing and accessories, new-designer clothing, surfwear, henna tattoos, and piercings. Expect to see crazy hair do's in all colors and ink and piercings gallor! There are so many stores to go to that there really is something for every one if you are willing to look!

Dozens of independent stalls, small shops and boutiques operate in the one building. It opened in 1981 however during the 1990s 'Mad-chester Summer Of Lover' period – when local bands like the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and Inspiral Carpets were riding on the cusp of a wave – Afflecks Palace was a fashionable spot to get oversized flared jeans and tie dyed t-shirts and with the 'Eastern Bloc' record store dealing in all the latest underground dance tunes of the time.

Well worth a visit especially if you have a bit of a wild side!
