While this mountain feels a lot smaller than Park City, it is a beautiful mountain nonetheless. With stunning views and bowl-like runs, this is a skier’s paradise. They have seven chairs, so the lift lines go pretty quickly. Once on the mountain, the runs are fantastic. There are numerous runs for the beginner and intermediate skier. I am not sure about the advanced trails, as I am not quite there yet.

Midday brings about hunger, and if you can't make it all the way down to the base, you can dine mid-mountain, which is good for the wonderful views and great people-watching. The food is tasty.

There are so many options for skiing while in Utah, and while I enjoyed skiing here and would highly recommend this resort, I will always be true to my favorite resort of all, Alta.

On this particular trip we went to The Canyons and Brighton on consecutive days. On Saturday, we started at The Canyons. This is a massive ski area with more than five mountain peaks to ski, unfortunately this was a poor year for snow, so not all the lifts were open, but I don't hold that against them. This is an interesting resort. You park at the bottom of the hill and ride the lift to the base of the ski resort. The first thing you notice at the top of the hill is all the shops, resteraunts and the hotel, all of which are top notch. More on that later.

The mountain is an excellent mix of blue square and black diamond runs. There is literally not enough time in the day to ski every run. My wife ended up getting sick the day we arrived and spent the entire day at the restaurant. The staff was excedingly nice, offerring to get her anything she needed, even a complimentary soda. We later ate at the same resteraunt, which had an excellent selection of food and the prices were reasonable for the fare served.

The next day we spent at Brighton Ski Resort, which, on this particular trip, had much better snow conditions. However, Brighton is much like any other ordinary ski resort when it comes to facitilies: a small lodge with a ski shop, a cafeteria, and a ski patrol. It also a very small bar area overlooking the parking lot, which was nice to catch up on the score of the game. The mountain itself involved three very large mountain peaks, over 10,000 ft. They featured an abundance of blue square and black diamond runs, with an occasional green circle from the peak. The snow was well groomed and they had multiple snowboard parks across the resort.

As far as the boarding goes, I had a much better time at Brighton. I would highly recommend either resort to the intermediate/advanced skier or boarder.
