Haunted House

After we left the wax museum, we decided to take a haunted house tour. I just wanted to see what this place had in store to scare me. I consider myself not to be scared by too much, so I thought this was really going to be a breeze to walk through. Boy, was I wrong! The most memorable event here was when we were walking through this place (it was pitch-black).We were looking at the ghoulish decor it had on the walls (bloody masks and weapons) when then we turned a corner and went down a corridor. This was when a very tall, huge ghoul jumped right out at me with a fake ax. He was screaming, "I’m going to get you and chop you up in little pieces." Dang, I thought I was going to have a heart attack on the spot. When I was screaming, I could hear this same person who was the ax killer laugh his buttocks off. I discovered later that this place hired young college kids to be the ghoulish characters. This place was scary fun, but not for the faint of heart or young kids. Back in 1987, we paid under $5 a piece for an adult ticket.

Although I can’t remember the name of the haunted house we attended and I am not sure if it is still open, there are various haunted houses at The Dells. In fact, there are six of them. Some of these are the Haunted Mansion, Ghost Out-Post Haunted House, and Dungeon of Horrors.

Haunted Mansion is located at 112 Broadway, Wisconsin Dells. Its phone number is 608/254-7513. This place has nine dungeons filled with moving monsters and creepy items. It has a count who welcomes you to a frightening experience of your life.

The cost for an adult ticket is $4.95, and a child’s ticket (12 and under) is $3.95. The opening date for this year was April 1.

Ghost Out-Post Haunted House has various attractions. These attractions include Willard the Rat, Hallway of the Dead, Vortex Room, Death Support, Hellhound, and 13 other scary and animated scenes to freak you out.

Ghost Out-Post Haunted House is located at 633 Wisconsin Dells Parkway. The phone number is 608/254-2127. An adult ticket is $6.95, a child’s ticket is $4.95, and the admission is free for children 3 and under. It is open only on the weekends from November to April.

The Dungeon of Horrors is located on 325 Broadway. The admission prices are the following: Adults’ tickets are $5, children’s tickets (5 to 12) are $4, and children under 5 go in free. It is open May 1. The hours are 10am to 11pm 7 days a week in season.
