Farfelu is a little vineyard between Routes 29 and 66, with a little French flair, a cat that sits among the barrels, and the best Chardonnay I have ever had the pleasure to drink. 2003 Chardonnay- oak-aged, literally like buttah! It's only $7 for a full tasting and glass, and about $20/bottle, depending on which color your tastes run to.
They have a picnic area, so I might recommend bringing your own cheese plate. Theirs is sufficient, but not as varied as some I've had. While you're sobering up, you can play horseshoes or badminton or take a stroll around the property (through the woods or around the lake).
Farfelu is my absolutely favorite northern Virginia winery. Don't go for me; go for the 2003 Chardonnay.
