Ka Lae (South Point) Southern-most tip of U.S.

Take a drive down Hwy 11 to South Point Rd. This will take you to the southernmost tip of the U.S.

We saw dozens of whales from the cliff. There are some old fishing docks here. While we were looking at the blowholes (places in the lava where the ocean spouts up through the holes), we heard a scream. Then a woman ran past us and jumped off the cliff! We ran over to see and her boyfriend explained that he had done this many years ago, and she had always wanted to dive off. It was a pretty good drop to the ocean. There were ladders for the fishing boats, so she was able to easily climb back up.

While at South Point, you can walk to the Green Sands Beach if you have a few hours. Be sure to bring drinking water.
