Stowe Skiing

Stowe has a great diversity of ski terrain to satisfy both novices and experts. Since it was so late in the year (March 26th through April 2nd), the lower areas were beginning to show bare spots, and many of the beginner runs were closed for the season. If you are a beginner, I would recommend visiting in more prime time conditions to avoid the limited novice areas and the sometimes difficult conditions (bare/icy spots and heavy/slushy snow in the warm afternoons). Even with the limited novice runs, we found enough green and easy blue runs to satisfy everyone. The food service offerings are fairly limited and expensive. The parking is very close to the lifts; therefore, I would recommend packing a lunch and retrieving it when you are ready to eat.

I can't wait to go back to the Rusty Nail this summer! The staff was so friendly, and they make one mean dirty martini. Thank you, Rusty Nail!

Snowboarding or hiking in Vermont is so smooth and nice because it's not so commercial like all the resorts in Colorado. The best thing is that u will find people but not that much li in other resots i think that this is the coolest thing for me to relax and have a goo time........

Stowe Country Club

I was able to play golf at the Stowe Country club twice during our stay. Both times, I was able to get a tee time to my liking and was paired up with other players so I didn’t have to play as a single.

Whenever staying in Stowe, this is the place to play golf. There are great views of the valley so you could consider it a very scenic golf course. There are some sand traps (though sand was just being put in that week) and a few ponds but water is not a factor. With that said, I find the course to be challenging course but not impossible.

Another plus is the fact that the course was not crowded during the week, which makes for fast play. It is so much enjoyable to golf when you are able to golf during the morning and then have the afternoon for other activities. In addition, the course is close by the condo (approx 5 minutes of walking) so my wife can get the car if she needs it.

There is a nice restaurant on-site which is convenient. Usually I buy a hat (or two) in the pro shop.

Other plusses of this course include the driving range so I can hit a bucket or two before the 18 holes of play and the fantastic golf school connected to course. Even though this course is not on a top 10 list, you will enjoy golfing here.

Click here for the home page with lots of info about the course and the school.

Vermont has really made the most of this winter, the snow has not stopped falling. Stowe had good coverage all week, with one excellent powder day. If it does snow, try Upper Spruce, there are some beautiful runs if you step outside the lines.

The quad is the fastest way up the mountain which leads to some black mogul runs. We stayed mostly on the blue cruisers which led right to the park and pipe, which is HUGE!!

Crowds were nonexistant midweek, and the gondola had some waits but none more than a minute.
