WPF is an annual one day Christian festival featuring the industry's finest... Very impressed, and it's FREE! I've attended 3 years in a row and nothing compares, not even secular concerts/festivals. It's the second largest event in northern Indiana next to Notre Dame Football - 60,000 people strong. Every year is better than the one before. The first one I went to featured Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day and Nicole C. Mullen as the main groups. The 2003 lineup was Newsboys, Sixpence None The Richer, Jars of Clay, Paul Colman Trio, Out of Eden, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, Tree63, and Ninety9left. They had BMX bike demos and rock walls and everything. Lots of stuff to look at and buy if you want. Sponsors aren't allowed to sell anything (except the exceptional Nelson's port-a-pit chicken and more) so there's lots of free stuff and no pressure! Past hosts have included producer Dana Key (Degarmo & Key), Bill Scott (ZJAM), Comedian Bob Smiley and more. Pulse FM (96.9) is the Christian radio music station that drives the festival and they actually gave away meet and greet passes to people to meet the artists at this year's festival. Not only that, but they gave away tons of prizes like DVD players and great gift baskets from many of the sponsors. The sound is great, and if you can't see the stage from where you are, there's a huge tv right next to the stage so you can.
The festival used to be a concert called The Birthday Party and it was an appreciation concert for Pulse FM listeners. I'm not sure when they changed the name to World Pulse Festival, but they call it that because it is broadcast live all over the world by shortwave, fm radio, television and the internet. This year they had a live television feed to Manila in the Philippines where a whole crowd of people were gathered to watch the festival live. That was really interesting - people on the other side of the world watching the same thing we were watching. They also talked to someone in Israel doing the same sort of thing. That was also inspiring considering what has been going on there.
