Bringing water in the winter months is a must- it gets extremely hot even in the shade there. There is also an entry fee in the Late Spring/Summer/Early Autumn months.

We also strolled in Ritchey Canyon on the Redwood Trail to view the delicate ferns and listened to the water splashing down the rocky creekbed. We brought our wine at Safeway and cheese from Oakville Grocery and had a picnic under the towering Douglas Firs. Our daughter loved the scenery and trickling creek... Caution is needed since the slope is rather steep in the 12%.
