Summer Ski Lift

Summer Ski Lift

The Red Chair Ski lifts run year round in Red River. The Base of the lift is located behind the go-kart track. At $11 per person, it's not a bad deal for a one hour trip. The peak is 10,750 ft above sea level and it takes half an hour to get there. You can only see 20% of the lift from the starting point. I am not in love with heights in general, but the views were amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Red River

The old town is in the canyon at the foot of the ski area. With a 50-inch base, there was just enough to cover the steeps, with some stumps and hazards. There is something for everyone, except maybe extreme adventurists.

Skiing Red River, NM

The skiing in Red River was great with slopes to suit everyone from the raw newbie to the experienced double black diamond expert. Only negative-trails were not as well marked as could have wished. If you go there, tell Travis the ski instructor, Miss Downhill Racer from Greenville, TX sent ya! He is a great teacher with lots of patience-a real plus if you're trying to remember what you forgot in the 15 years since last ski trip!

Seriously-Red River is very family friendly with lots of the ski instructors in age groups over twenty-something who bring their own kids up to the slopes to learn. The best part? Everything on the slopes had a family-friendly price tag, too.
