Los Arcos and the Las Marieta Islands are solid snorkeling choices for the Puerto Vallarta area. Lots of fish and decent visibility. Water temps in the area are quite warm. Watch out for the jellyfish. Many of them are tiny and give you a tiny stinging sensation. It's not harmful, but many times you can't avoid them because there are so many of them. Just keep your eyes open for any larger ones - they can leave a good-sized welt. These two areas in particular are great for beginning snorkelers, but still have enough to offer for someone more experienced. If you are a certified diver, take the opportunity to dive Las Marietas, as the amount of sea life to enjoy increases at around 40-60 ft. Lots of morays, and if you are lucky, a manta ray.
