Yellow Submarine

This tour starts out early in the morning (boat leaves around 8 AM). The boat makes 2 stops to pick up passengers: the marina and a dock in Puerto Vallarta itself. They serve a simple breakfast, but I would advise you to eat first. The trip starts out past the town, to an area with crystal-clear water. The highlight of the tour is the submarine experience. There are 2 small submarines on the boat. Each one fits a driver and 2 passengers. The submarines are not fully enclosed, so when inside, water rises up to about waist level. To keep water from rising up higher, air pressure inside is increased. People who have trouble with airplane landings and take-offs might want to avoid this. The submarines are also quite cramped. The experience lasts about 15 minutes, and takes you on the order of 20 feet under to the ocean floor, where you can see all sorts of marine life. To entertain customers while they're waiting for their turn to go under, Bora-Bora (tour operators) offers kayaking and snorkeling equipment, or you can just splash about near the boat. Afterwards, they took us on a small power boat and we went exploring some fascinating rock formations in the water. We went through caves (in the boat) and saw pelicans, crabs and lots of other marine life.
