Wonderful tour and way to get aquainted with the city and surrounding area. Very fun tour of a tequila factory, excellent lunch overlooking the ocean, tour of Lady of Guadalupe Church, jungle tour included.

Archie's Awesome City and Tropical Tour

It was an excellent adventure!
We were picked up at the Crown Paradise Resort by Archie in his air-conditioned Suburban and taken on a 4 hour tour of Puerto Vallarta and the south coastal area.
We visited a cathedral and saw a gorgeous carved Christ figure. It took the artist three years to carve and mount the figure above the altar.
We visited the Malecon, which is a seawall/boardwalk that is about a mile long. One one end is an ampitheatre where native dances and other entertainment can be found most nights. A plaza is across from the ampitheatre, with most of the land side of the Malecon reserved for restaurants and shopping.
Behind the plaza is the Cathedral. At the other end of the Malecon stands Hotel Rosarita, the oldest hotel in Puerto Vallarta. She just celebrated her 50th year!
From the Malecon we made our way to El Pitillal where the working class generally lives. We visited a family in their home high on a hillside overlooking Puerto Vallarta. Although the standard of living is nothing like what we see in the USA, the people are happy and have built strong homes in which to raise their families. The home we visited was being built as the family lived in the first floor. We toured the construction of the additional bedrooms and baths and terrace on the roof. It was a highlight of this trip to see how a normal working family lives.
From there it was up the hills and down winding ruts through the back door of Puerto Vallarta that we visited areas of the middle class, the lower class, and on to Conchas Chinas, where the million dollar homes are built from the beach to high up the hills.
A narrow, one lane winding road took us through the jungle foliage and past gorgeous creekbeds awash with rapids and boulders and on into Chico's Paradise and El Eden.
Here lies the crashed helicopter from the movie 'Predator', starring Arnold Swartzenegger. This movie set has been used for several productions and is a sight you should not miss! Have lunch in the restaurant and swing off your seat into the river!
We pushed a VW Jetta down the hills, over small streams, and around a bend until we had passing room on our way down from Chico's Paradise.
Archie is a safe driver and his air-conditioning is not to be sneezed at in Puerto Vallarta in August. His price for the tour was $30 USD per hour, NOT per person. It was well worth it!
Archie can be booked through PAMELA at 22 33310 or 22 33309 or 22 30241. She will take care of all arrangements, give you helpful hints, and can be emailed at travelpv@alegre-cruises.com. She is WONDERFUL!
