As the right time of year for catching the Grey Whale Migration (and with it, the Celebration) falls in the camping off-season (January-March), I've never been lucky enough to catch it. Those among you who are less wimpy in their camping verve should try to make it anywhere between Oxnard and Baja during this time of year. I'll be going next year...
The Grey Whale is an Environmentalist's triumph. Having been hunted to near extinction twice over the last century its population is up so high (21,000) that it was removed from the list of Endangered Species in 1993. Cisco's Sportfishing and Island Packers are the two main suppliers of boat tours for close-up viewing.
