When we got to Charleston, we met up with a very eccentric, older "Charlestonian," Miss Mary Magnolia. She kept stressing that she was a "true" Charlestonian, but her commentary about Charleston and the history was very informative and impressive. Lunch was included at a very nice restaurant in the old district, and then we were able to walk around the market for a bit. Miss Magnolia was sure to point out and give us information on all the important homes and buildings. We drove through the Citadel. This is highly recommended if you have a day available.
