This was a wonderful trip. The guide took just the two of us out. My husband and I had a two man kayak. We met them approximately 6 miles east of the hotel (we left our jeep and they drove us back after the trip to pick it up).
It was a wonderful trip. We went early before the trade winds picked up (for calm waters); and it also wasn't very hot either. We paddled out off shore from the beach. The tide was out and the water was VERY calm. It was amazing how clear the water was! There was an abundance of fish and large coral heads that could easily be seen in the crystal clear water. We even saw some beautiful sea turtles.
You had the opportunity to get out and snorkel in this wonderful "aquarium"; snorkel gear was included. We saw a couple large blowfish, lots of bright yellow tangs, and of course, the "Humuhumunukunukuapuaa", or "Hawaiian Trigger Fish"; and LOTS of others.
After that, we started paddling west in the direction of the hotel, while our informative guide talked to us about the island of Molokai. We kayaked all the way back to the hotel and had a WONDERFUL breakfast in the hotel restaurant while looking out over the water.
It was a wonderful trip, and we loved the fact that it was just the two of us and the guide, not a large group. Being new to kayaking, we didn't want to hold anyone up. It was like a private tour.
A tip though!! If you are not in really good upper body shape, make sure to get the two man kayak like we did, it is a LOT of paddling on the way back! Our arms and back were a little sore. The guide told us often they take people out in singles kayaks, and end up having to tow some of them back in!
