Paragliding

Soar like a bird from a 3,000-foot cliff high in the Venezuelan Andes - securely attached to an elegant parasail and an experienced pilot. The ride up the winding road with sheer dropoffs is probably just as scary as the flight itself!

As we glided way above the world, we saw little goats and deer below and talked about the air currents that an experienced pilot could ride for hours or for many miles without touching down. But we touched down after about 40 of the most exhilirating minutes I've ever enjoyed.

My pilot was something of a show-off, wanting me to experience the dives, twists, and turns that made moments feel like a roller coaster ride without the track. When I told him I was about to vomit, he settled back into a sedate soaring over the gorgeous landscape.

If you haven't had the custom of stepping off 3,000-foot cliffs, you're in for a real treat. Very reasonable, at about $40 U.S. for a half-day trip. No experience required.
