pride of maui = the worst of maui. WARNING TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! For the people who don't like to read the story I'll sum up. No matter what you signed up for, there is a good chance you won't be going to taht location, you will get tricked or lied to, they won't care and won't give you a refund no matter what.....read on if you wanna hear the story.

Me and my wife signed up only to go to molokini, it was the 1 thing we hadn't done on maui. We signed up for a day trip to molokini crater. When we get there we sign up and pay for our trip, I overhear the employees asking if everyone has already paid, they say yes. The employees then announces that they have just come back from the crater 2 hours ago and it is just too windy to go to today and we have to go a backup dive site. I told them I really didn't want to go to the other site, we only wanted to go to molokini. Although I understand the weather is a problem and they can't control that, I would like a refund as that was what I paid for. The group informed us that it was a....and I quote here....."Captain's decision at time of sail". But obviously they had made that decision HOURS ago and just wanted to wait until every single person was signed in?! GREAT service there =( Needless to say that I will NEVER use this service again and I will tell all of my friends to stay away too. Oh and PS just incase anyone cared. The back up site was completely pathetic. NO fish, very little coral. It was painfully obvious they just decided to take us to a crappy desperate location because they couldn't go to the crater. I am completely serious when I say that snorkeling outside of my hotel (westin) was wayyyyy better...and didn't cost 100 bucks! So in summary, just go snorkeling outside of your hotel! you won't get tricked and robbed, you'll save tons of money, and you'll see better stuff!

This was my first time to snuba dive, and it was the best experience ever. The dive instructor was so great and understanding about our fears, but he also encouraged us not to waste our precious time above the water but to relax and enjoy the underwater experience. It was fantastic!

I recommend this trip to everyone. Great food, relaxing boat ride, and terrific crew. It was great for people young and old. They offered all water activities for those experienced and not so experienced. It was excellent!

Most of the snorkeling trips leave from Ma'alaea which looks like a long way from Molokini. If you leave from south Maui, say from Wailea, it's a lot closer, but then you have to drive a long way from Lahaina to get there. The old trade-off.

So they take off from Ma'alaea and take you out to Molokini which is a submerged volcano. Only the top of the volcano is still above water and even then only part of it. One side is totally submerged. This allows the boats to anchor in the middle or near the inside of the part remaining above water.

First you do the snorkeling for a while. Then you try the snuba. With snuba, you have a 20' air line connected to the boat. You can see much more since you're not relegated to the length of your snorkel.

If you are certified you can also scuba. Snuba does not require certification.

After an hour or so, you lift anchor and head for Turtle Town. If you see turtles, which we did, it's definitely worth it. The turtles are large (maybe 6' across). Don't miss it. Take a tour that goes to Turtle Town.
