Walking along the shore

The shoreline path spans the entire beach of Long Beach, CA. It is about 6 miles long and runs from the "peninsula" to the aquarium. Many of the hotel accomodations are nearby, so it is easily accessible by foot. This path is concrete and has a section designated for pedestrians and another section designated for pedestrians on wheels. White sandy beach surrounds both sides of the path for most of the 6 miles. This is a good place to exercise and get around. Many of the Long Beach highlights are along these 6 miles, including Second Street for shopping, the Long Beach Museum of Art, Shoreline Village, the Aquarium of the Pacific, and the water shuttle. You also can stop and take a swim in the water, but it is very cold and, in my opinion, not especially clean. The LA river's mouth is north of Long Beach. Sometimes trash floats downward towards the beach and can wash up. Not very pleasant.
