The Frazier Historical Arms Museum has a huge problem. Yes, you’ll traverse hundreds of years of history during your sojourn at this unique venue. And yes, you’ll witness magnificent sword fighting demonstrations, wonderful interpretations of historical figures and memorabilia beyond your imagination. However, to describe this Louisville, Kentucky, museum adequately, you would need to jam so many adjectives into the title—words such as "interactive," "theatrical," "high-tech," "exciting," and just "out-and-out cool"--that the marquee would surround the building.
The collection, displays and demonstrations housed at this 18th-century building are the embodiment of childhood memories of playing cowboys and Indians, war, cops and robbers, The Three Musketeers, and Knights of the Round Table. In what other museum can you find Geronimo’s bow, General George Custer's pearl-handled pistols, Daniel Boone's family Bible, horse-mounted knights, advertisements from Wild West shows, pictures of Jessie James, Teddy Roosevelt's "Big Stick" rifle, and more than thirty action-packed interpretations that depict historical eras and people such as Annie Oakley, all housed under one roof? Visitors enjoy a family-friendly thrill ride with life-size displays, hands-on education, movie theatres and re-enactments that put visitors in the same room with history’s most colorful characters. And chances are about 100 percent that you’ll learn a few things as well.
