Ko Hong Island

Ko Hong Island

Ko Hong means "Room Island." Ko means island and Hong means room. The island has the shape of a doughnut, with a small entry point on one side that barely fits a small Thai boat (see photo 1).

Once you enter, you are in a large natural lagoon with calm, translucent emerald waters, relatively shallow. You are surrounded by rich vegetation and complete silence. Only the sounds of your paddling and your voice will break the magic tranquility.

I rate the few hours I have spent at Ko Hong as some of the best moments of the several trips I have made to Thailand, with Mother Nature demonstrating her magnificence, glory, and beauty in one stroke in this gem of the Andaman archipelago.
