It takes two days to see everything, but you can do it in one if you know what you want to do and the lines are not long. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and Millionaire are musts. My in-laws enjoyed the journey-through-the-movies ride.

We went to this park on December 31, expecting to stay for the New Year's Eve fireworks. We were lucky we got there early enough as by about 1pm, all the Disney parks were closed due to crowds. It was also VERY cold.

We got fast passes for the rides we really wanted: Rockin' Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Rockin' Roller Coaster is a fast, thrilling roller coaster with Aerosmith music blasting in your ears. Riders board a 24-passenger "stretch limo" on their way to the Aerosmith concert they've just been invited to by Steven Tyler himself. You are launched 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, then scream through inversions, loops and a corkscrew. A great ride!

The Tower of Terror was our favorite. Guests are seated aboard a rickety old "freight elevator" that glides through mysterious hotel passageways, past ghostly images of former guests. As the journey progresses, the elevator enters a pitch-black shaft. The elevator launches guests skyward unexpectedly, then, just as suddenly, the cables 'snap' and electrical sparks shower. The vehicle then plunges 13 stories. The elevator abruptly rises once more, with an unpredictable series of shorter drops and climbs. At one point, the doors of your elevator open to reveal the Disney-MGM Studios parking lot 13 stories below you! You are eventually returned to a dimly lit rear hallway of the Hotel, where you exit the elevator. You HAVE to experience this thrill yourself!

We also went on the Great Movie Ride. It was a slow-paced ride through scenes from famous movies. The kids were kind of bored, but I liked it. We enjoyed the Backlot tour; it's a lot like the Universal Studios tour. We saw Fantasmic, which is an incredible water/laser/light show with Disney characters, both good and evil. It's a must-see!

By 10pm, the crowd was so thick it was hard to move. We decided that there was no way to watch the New Year arrive and get back to our shuttle on time. We knew a cab ride would be incredibly expensive because of the traffic trying to get out. We ended up leaving and listening to the fireworks from bed! Definitely a disappointment.

It's Hollywood at it's best at Disney-MGM Studios where guests of all ages are immersed in the glitz, glamour and excitement of show business -- strolling down Hollywood Boulevard, surrounded by the sights, sounds and personalities of Tinseltown in the 1930s; watching as classic Disney characters are brought to life through the magic of animation; or blasting off on a wild limousine ride with America's premier rock band, Aerosmith, as their guides. The courtyard of the Chinese Theater features handprints of numerous show business stars who have visited the studios, including Alan Alda, Lauren Bacall, Robin Williams, Charlton Heston, Samuel L. Jackson, Sylvester Stallone, Bette Midler, Michael J. Fox and Tom Cruise.

It's a place for children of all ages.
