Religious Sites Of Istanbul From The Byzantine Era

  • March 13, 2002

Istanbul is host to numerous churches, mosques and synagogues from every architectural period imaginable. In the part of town inside the city walls called the "historic peninsula", you can find many orthodox churches dating back to 400 AD. Most of these are still open for worship. Some, however, have been converted into museums.
