Explore a Beautiful Cavern

This was a great adventure for my family and myself. My daughters (five and nine years old) enjoyed visiting Blanchard Springs Caverns. The trip getting there was a little too hilly for my oldest, as she got carsick going up and down the many hills and curves in the road, but once we got there, she loved the Dripstone Cave Tour. We have no problems walking through the cave and throughout the tour, there were places to sit down and enjoy the beautiful cave.

After visiting the cave, we then traveled a short distance down the road to the spring. It was a beautiful summer day and we took lots of pictures.

Gorgous cavern discovered in 1960s. It's run by the National Park Service, so it does not have the glitz of a privately run tour, but the cavern and formations are spectacular.

A hidden gem of Northern Arkansas is Blanchard Springs Caverns. It is run by the National Forest Service. The cave is a good size and has beautiful formations. Three tours are offered. Only one was running when we were there in April. Be sure to check the hours before heading there. Our tour was lead by a great guide who had a good narrative.

Be sure to see the Springs before you leave the park.

You might want to stop for lunch at Cody's in Fifty Six (a town two miles west of the park entrance on Arkansas Route 14).
