The diving in the Bahamas is great! The water is warm and clear, and there were low or no currents. There are many wrecks to dive at, including several plane wrecks, in addition to the ship wrecks. The coral is great, providing a natural home to the abundance of tropical reef fish. There are also shark dives you can do with the resort dive team, where you dive near the sharks that the other dive operators feed. You do not feed the sharks on the dives, but the sharks are so used to getting fed by humans that they come very close to you. On the shark dive we went on, there were perhaps eight or nine black-tipped reef sharks over seven feet long.
For snorkeling, you can get the gear right at the activity desk, free of charge, and the snorkeling right off the beach offers a good look at some of the reef fish you would see on a dive. There are a few small coral heads just about 15 yards from shore. I even saw a spotted eagle ray close to shore while snorkeling!
