Kemah Boardwalk

The Kemah Boardwalk has become increasingly popular over the years with local families and tourists. It used to be old and dying quickly, but new life was put in by the city of Kemah. Now there is live entertainment, restaurants, and carnival games and rides.

There is frequently live entertainment on the Boardwalk, ranging from local to junior-high bands. All acts are very talented and attract large crowds of curious visitors. During the summer, fireworks and laser shows occur every Friday night, which makes Friday nights very crowded with young families.

Food on the Boardwalk is outstanding. There are many high-quality seafood restaurants, both chain and local. The most popular is the Aquarium, so if you intend to eat there, reservations are a must. Don't expect to get a cheap meal out of the Boardwalk atmosphere--all restaurants are full-service sit-down seafood meals.

Besides the food and entertainment, carnival games and rides are all over. The rides are traditional (Merry-Go-Round and Ferris Wheel) and extremely popular for young children. The games are also traditional (Flip the Frog, Knock down these Bottles) and are generally not to difficult to win. Stuffed animals are the prizes for all games.

The one drawback of the Boardwalk is that you can experience everything in one visit. It isn't that large of an area at all. Therefore, most kids get bored by the time they leave junior high, and it's up to their little siblings to keep the Boardwalk alive.

The Kemah Boardwalk is an awesome place to go whether you are with your family, friends, or even by yourself. It has shopping, dining, and an amusement park.

There are many great restaurants, such as Joe's Crabshack, Landry's Seafood House, The Flying Dutchman, Saltgrass Steakhouse, Cadillac Bar & Grill, and several more. The shops include: Thomas Kincade, Gallery Toy Crossing, Aquarium Gift Shop, and Boardwalk Supply Co. The amusement park consists of a carousel, ferris wheel, rock climbing wall, fast boat ride, and more.

We were only here for a few hours, but if you get to visit the Kemah Boardwalk, plan for at least a half a day to enjoy yourself. And if you would like to stay the weekend, they have the Boardwalk Inn so you can stay right in the midst of all the fun. It will be great, I promise!

Kemah boardwalk is a quaint little area of Kemah lined with shops and antiques. The boardwalk is owned by Laundry’s and has tons of restaurants and fun activities. There are lots of rides, $2.50 to $3 per person, or you can get a pass for $16. There is also an arcade, toy shops, and an aquarium/restaurant with a stingray experience and dancing fountains the kids can play in. After 4pm the Beast runs – a speed boat that you can not miss. Restaurants include the underwater dining experience of The Aquarium (we loved it), Joe's Crab Shack, Laundry's, Saltgrass, The Flying Dutchman, Babins seafood, Cadillac Mexican, The Crab House, The Pizza Oven, and the coffee house. A train is available to give you a tour of the area and explain its development. At the end you experience a short gun fight/robbery, which was quite cute - the kids liked it. We got Dippin Dots - our favorite theme-park treat,  flash frozen ice cream, common in Galveston area, not in Arizona, so we ate it everywhere we went! The rides are on the ocean front (right side of the area) and the shops on the left, with dining throughout. The stingray experience and dancing fountains are on the left side of the area. We spent the day here, and the kids begged to go back the next day.
