Horseshoe Canyon

If you're heading south of Edmonton to the Royal Tyrrell Museum or the Badlands, consider a stop at Horseshoe Canyon. About 2 hours from Edmonton, Horseshoe Canyon is a surprise popping into the flat farmland lining Highway 9 east of the Calgary trail.

Well worth a ten minute stop to gaze into this horseshoe-shaped gash into the ground, Horseshoe Canyon also has hiking trails and a picnic area.

Entry is free and there is ample parking as well as the usual facilities.
