Torphin Hill Golf Club

Set in the foothills of the Pentlands some six miles South of the centre of Edinburgh. The course is heathland and ranges between 600 and 700 feet above sea level with 14 of the 18 holes situated on a relatively flat plateau with fine views to the North of Edinburgh, the Forth Estuary and to the South the Pentland Hills.

The plateau is reached by playing the third and fourth holes, which require the skills of a reasonable golfer coupled with sound physical health.

For those lacking the latter, golf cars are available for hire at a very reasonable price in the summer months.

The course is just under 5000 yards but with a par of 67 and a standard scratch of 66 it is no ''walk in the park''. The course record is 63.
