The sun can be very bright and shade is hard to come by. If you are coming to the beach from a place where it's winter, take extreme care not to be sunburned. Young children can burn in just a few minutes. The beach is smooth and makes for very good walking. I prefer the Gulf coast of Florida to the Atlantic side, for one thing the water is warmer and secondly the beaches are nicer.
