For the weekend we picked to visit our friends, the streets of Las Olas were turned into a
gigantic and lively art festival. It is an annual event and it looked like everyone was in the streets. It was slow going moving from booth to booth. In fact the picture on the web must have been taken just after the gates opened! It was more crowded but I think the size of the crowd added to the festivities. And the music playing throughout the day added to the air of joviality.
Since there were 300 artists represented (from all over the states), you can imagine how many booths you could visit. So many different types of art with a range of media (oil, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, etc), price (lots very reasonable), and sizes (miniature blown glass ornaments to museum size art)! I found that the art was very different and I bought a very unique necklace and matching earrings. I love buying craft type jewelry (rather than elegant jewels). I now have a continual reminder of my great time in Boca whenever I wear the jewelry.
There were many food vendors outdoors as well as many restaurants along the way so we didn’t go hungry. All types of cuisine were represented.
By the way, admission is FREE.
