Riverhouse golf course is one of the tougher courses in Bend. The hilly and mountainous terrain will give you fits. Some fairways you are in a canyon. Bring extra balls, because if you hit that little white ball off the fairway, the ball is usually lost in the dry dirt or rocky terrain. Mine usually find the trap or lakes, so I stock up at Payless or Walmart with 18 pack of balls. Greens and fairways are usually in top condition. The scenery is breath-taking. On a clear day you can see Mt. Bachelor, Three Sisters and Mt. Hood. Bring your camera as you have plenty of scenery to shoot. Bring a sweater/windbreaker in Spring, Summer & Fall. No snacks or beer carts, so bring your own refreshments. I'm a lousy golfer, play 4 or 5 times a year, but enjoy the outdoors. My golf has been getting better the last 5 years. Usually I lose only 3 or 4 balls a game. This is down from the dozen I would lose years ago. Maybe I owe this to finally purchasing golf shoes. The score is the same, but I'm losing fewer balls. I have a dozen or so hats that I have purchased when I visit the many courses in Bend and Redmond.
