Silver Dollar City

Silver Dollar City brings fun for all ages. If you like the rides, there are plenty of them. From the three roller coasters to the train ride, there are those to suit any age. They have a variety of food, also, from a buffet inside a restaurant to pan-cooked meals outside. There is a lot of walking, but those unable to walk can rent drivable wheelchairs.

At Christmas, Silver Dollar City is a wonderland. The beautiful lights are everywhere and beautiful music abounds. We received a map of the park when we entered and picked out the music shows we wanted to see. This year, we only went to three shows, plus the Light Parade. Next year, we plan to arrive when the park opens and visit all of the shows. Then we will leave the park, get some rest, and return to the park when it gets dark. We will then enjoy the beautiful lights and take photos.

It was a fantastic fall day for the American Craftsmanship Festival. Our son happily climbed ropes and shot balls from the cannons in the children's area. He loved riding the American Plunge. We adore the Wildfire, one of the best rollercoasters in the Midwest.

Lots of rides, shops, and shows. The craftsmen making their crafts are interesting. Lots of street performers make it fun. Water park is large. Need to be able to walk and climb stairs.

Silver Dollar City is a wooded theme park originally built up around a cave. You can still tour the cave, but I don't think most people are aware that it's how the theme park got started in the first place.

They have several rides and a few shows along with many, many arts, crafts, and trade stands and exhibits showing life back in the 19th century. It is built on a hillside so there is some up and down walking involved.

We were there the week before Labor Day and crowds were non-existent. There were no lines anywhere and the weather was great--not too hot or cold.

Silver Dollar City is also linked with Celebration City and White Water water park. If you decide to go to all of them (especially multiple days), you may want to buy an all city season pass to save some money. If you plan ahead, these passes cost less and you get some extras if you buy the December before you go the next summer.
