International Food & Wine Festival

The Walt Disney World Resort in itself has enough magic and splendor to attract millions and millions of park guests every year. As if the four Disney Theme Parks were not enough, Disney schedules annual “Special Events” to ensure that the magic of Disney offers something new with every visit. If you have the pleasure of taking a Disney vacation in the fall, while you are visiting Epcot you can be witness to that magic that only Disney knows, as they host the 2005 International Food and Wine Festival.

Epcot first hosted the International Food and Wine Festival in back 1995. Due to the phenomenal success of this event, Epcot has played host to the festival every year and will be hosting the 10th Annual International Food and Wine Festival from September 30th to November 13th in 2005.

What makes this 45-day event so attractive is the diversity of different cultures from around the globe. Food and wine tastings from more than twenty-five different countries are available for your sampling. Fresh food preparation creates an aromatic splendor that encompass the walkways of the World Showcase that will entice even the finickiest of pallets. Please don’t allow yourself to be intimidated by the unknown; you don’t have to be a world renowned chef or a sommelier to enjoy everything the festival has to offer.

Atop of all the magic and culinary delight presented in the festival, Disney compliments those offerings with an astonishing musical line-up with the “Eat to the Beat” concert series that is preformed three times nightly in the America Gardens Theater. You can also find numerous demonstrations, seminars and activities to complete your festival experience.

No more are the days of international travel necessary for an authentic South African Bobotie and a glass of Chateau Bonnet Bordeaux Rouge from France. At the 2005 International Food and Wine Festival you can leave your passport at home and still enjoy all the culinary delights experienced of a world traveler.

Stroll through the World Showcase, stopping at outdoor marketplaces representing 25 countries. Enjoy appetizer-size portions of foods, wines, and beers native to the country.

Portions cost from $1.50 to $5.25 each. Cash and major credit cards are accepted. Disney resort charges are accepted at all. To save time bring plenty of $1 and $5 bills.

If you look under 35 years old, have a government-issued photo ID ready to show at each marketplace.

There are a number of complimentary exhibits and wine tastings provided. Check in the festival guide you will receive as you pass through the ticket turnstiles. Admission to EPCOT is required to access the festival.

There are a great deal of additional experiences you can purchase. The Party for the Senses is my favorite. It's a celebration of food and wine with access to creations from more than 25 famous chefs and tastings from over 70 wineries which are included in the $95 per person admission. Admission includes a souvenir wine glass and reserved seats to the Eat to The Beat concert. There are no tickets issued for the event. Show up at the left side of the entrance to the concert area in the America Gardens area around 5pm. You will receive a wristband for access to the concert and the party.

If you don't attend the concert report to the World Showplace, located between Canada and United Kingdom at 6:30pm each Saturday during the festival. As soon as you arrive I suggest you head to the far end of the pavilion and claim a place to sit. Dress is resort casual to dressy. This event is well worth the price of admission!
