The terrain is impressive in this enormous park, covered with hundreds of beautiful natural lakes and ponds filled with trout, and breathtaking mountains and unusual trees and plants. Elevation around 4000 meters above sea level. You can arrange a single or multiple day trip with a guide from Cuenca. If you chose to extensively explore portions of the park in higher altitudes, it seems imperative to observe the unpredictable weather, and take a guide knowledgeable of the area. Apparently spontaneous snow storms have caused hikers to get disoriented and become stranded.
