There are many way to get a great view of Split. One of them is to take a stroll in the Marjan hills in the western-most part of Split. These hill can be accessed by walking west down the main boulevard and climbing the many stairs that take you to the beginning of the path. Also located here is a cafe where you can enjoy a cup of some of the best coffee in the world, or a Croatian beer.

There is a broad path that will lead you up the hill, the incline is gentle and is suitable even for children. You may chose to leave the path, climbing in an area that can best be described as deciduous forest. There are many great picnic spots in the woods. You can hike to the top of the hill where there is a Croatian Flag that flys proudly over Split. Also, there is an old zoo at the top of the hill (and there is a fountain here where you can fill up your water bottle). Relax on a bench and watch the ships sail into port. A relaxing outdoor experience.
