The Ark

The Ark is a medieval fortress. It is the oldest 's structure of Bukhara (the first stones have been erected in the 5th century). Bukhara has a tremendous past with many wars with the neighboring town of KivaIn, but it is the soviets who damaged the most the stronghold. The present crumbling walls are 300 years old. It is about 75% ruins inside now, except for some remaining royal quarters, now housing a museum.
