I walk a lot for my health, but this was a hike I definitely didn't ever think I would do! The hike to Hanging Lake starts out as just that, a normal-looking "hike." However, the way up is a trail of huge rocks, uh, BOULDERS. I finally decided that I needed a walking stick. I noticed that most people had ski poles, and those seemed to work better. The view all the way up was breathtaking!! There were beautiful waterfalls, lots of wild animals, and out-of-the-ordinary (for me) trees and plant life. The hike itself must have been 2 miles up that boulder trail! It is definitely for the fit person, NOT the weak or ill.
When you finally get to the top, the first thing you hear is water falling. There are two waterfalls and the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. The lake is crystal-clear and turquoise. You can even walk to the top of the falls and look down, seeing far down in the canyon. You can see fish swimming in the water.
This is definitely a must for those who love a challenge, like me. I fell twice but only got a skinned knee. It sure was worth it, though! You have to go there! You will be glad you did!!
