Carnival

A weekend before Lent, in a small village named Nadur, the people celebrate Carnival in a "folkloristic" way. Folklore bands called id-'Daqqaqa' play all night long.

This event is not organized by any committee, so no rules apply. The people are very imaginative. You can see people wearing only a bed sheet, people lying on beds carried by others, boilersuits, and nuns and clergy, even though it is now illegal to wear as nuns and clergy. Admittedly, sometimes it gets scary, like when they carry dead animals like chicken, etc with them.

Many maltese and Gozitans write this on their yearly diary. It's an event not to be missed.
