Park 't Valkhof is situated on a small hill. In this park several historical buildings can be found: the 'Sint Nicolaas' chapel that was built in 1030 and the 'Sint Maartens' royal chapel from 1150. The Sint Nicolaas chapel is still in fairly good shape, the Sint Maartens chapel is also named the 'Barbarossa-ruine,' after the nickname of German ruler Frederik I van Hohenstaufen.
Every year in May, a music festival is organized with traditional Dutch music called 'Dag van het Levenslied'.
