With its crystal blue waters and wonderfully rich reefs boasting manta rays, moray eels and hundreds of species of tropical fish, Freeport boasts some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in the Caribbean.
You'll find no shortage of snorkel-tour companies in Freeport. Pat and Diane Fantasia Tours will take you snorkeling the rich waters of Dead Man's Reef and get you there in style on a boat that boasts a two-story waterslide and a climbing wall. Reef Tours and Rainbow Reef Snorkeling are other popular options.
If you're looking to party while snorkeling, take a trip with the Robinson Crusoe Beach Party and Snorkeling Cruise, or the aptly named Party Boat Tours. Snorkeling Party Boat's secluded island of Shangri-La, you'll see hawksbill, loggerhead and green sea turtles, coral reefs with sponges, sea whips, elkhorn coral and bulbous brain coral, not to mention countless tropical fish.
Scuba divers frequent the waters off of Peterson's Cay, 1 mile off the southern shore of Grand Bahama Island. This tiny 1.5 acre cay boats shallow sand bars and stocked coral reefs, perfect for beginning divers. More advanced divers will enjoy a dive or three with Sunn Odyssey Divers, which specializes in reef dives, wreck dives and shark dives, and only dives with small groups at a time.
