Plant lovers will be in heaven at the Desert Botanical Gardens, where over 21,000 of the most beautiful (and rare) cacti, agave and other succulents pack some of the most scenic acreage in Phoenix. Take a trip to the nearby Phoenix Zoo to snap pictures and visit the over 1,300 animals housed in the zoo’s various themed trails. An afternoon at the Arizona Science Center in downtown Phoenix another great way to put some nature in your day.

Hikers and climbers flock to Phoenix’s Camelback Mountain, where the steep trails to the summit reward hikers with stunning views of the city and the desert floor. If you’re still not sure where to start your explorations, try one of the area’s many tour companies. Open Road Tours will take you to the Grand Canyon, or cruising through the Senoran desert, while AZ Hummer Tours takes you on the desert roads (and off-roads) less traveled.
