From its fascinating historical sites to its modern recreation, you'll never struggle to find some fun in the Outer Banks.

Anyone with an interest in flight will be fascinated by the Wright Brothers Museum and Monument. Built on the field where the brothers first took flight, the museum boasts replicas of the Brothers' original flying machines, a portrait gallery of legendary aviators, and even the still-standing workshop where the first successful airplane was built. Nearby Kitty Hawk Beach, once the site of many failed flights, now makes for an idyllic way to spend an afternoon in the Outer Banks. And if you want a more bird's-eye view on the Outer Banks (without taking flight), the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, operational for a century, lets visitors climb its 214 steps to a height of 158 ft. over the Atlantic.

Shopping opportunities abound in Kitty Hawk, whether you're trolling Timbuktu Plaza or cruising through the one of the legendary BrewThru locations. An Outer Banks mainstay, BrewThru puts the convenience in convenience store, allowing visitors to actually drive through the store, stocking up on beer, wine, snacks and BrewThru-themed souvenirs.

Those looking to relax and recreate can try to roll that perfect 300 at Nag's Head Bowling Center, or partake in any of Promenade Watersports' ocean-bound activities. From parasasiling to jetskiing to kayaking and fishing, Promenade promises to get you involved in the Atlantic. A driving range and mini golf course round out the options.

You can round out a busy day of sightseeing and jetskiing by taking in some culture, maybe a play or concert al-fresco at the Waterside Theater, where the Atlantic itself provides the most scenic backdrop. The Outer Banks Music Showcase also provides seasonal musical entertainment throughout the year.
