Pack your sunscreen, flip flops and paperbacks, because Busan's beaches ensure that you're bound to spend plenty of time outside.
The city's most popular beach is Haeundae Beach, on the southeast end of Busan. Boasting almost 7.5 miles of white sandy coastline, Haeundae Beach remains a popular spot year-round for locals and tourists alike. West of Haeundae Beach, the cove-set Gwangali Beach draws a younger crowd who frequent its cafes, restaurants and nightclubs. Be sure to check out this beach come sunset, when the cove-spanning Gwangan Bridge lights up beautifully.
Set below massive evergreen-covered cliffs, the Taejongdae Beach, on the southernmost tip of Yeongdo-gu Island, makes for a perfect day (or multi-day) getaway. Aside from its amazing setting, Taejeongdae boasts an observatory and a beautiful white lighthouse.
If all that time on the beach has got you worn out, a visit to the purportedly curative waters of the Dongnae Hot Spring may be in order. Popular since the late 17th century, these hot springs churn out ion-packed waters at a piping 131 degrees. Visitors have their pick of a half-dozen spas around the springs, boasting curative spring water baths along with spa standbys like facials and massage.
