Online Travel Community Inducts 8 New Members into Hall of Fame

NEW YORK – February 11, 2010 – IgoUgo.com, one of the world’s largest online travel communities, has just announced the IgoUgo Hall of Fame inductees for the year 2009. The honor is given to IgoUgo members who continually inspire travel through their unparalleled reviews of destinations near and far, making them go-to resources for unbiased travel information.

"These IgoUgo members go way beyond the basic review—they share in-depth experiences that not only inspire travel, but help create an exceptional community for travelers,” said IgoUgo General Manager Aditi Gokhale. “Every year we have a number of excellent candidates and the competition continues to increase. This year’s winners have definitely helped make our site what it is today," Gokhale added.

This year’s inductees have written about and photographed hundreds of different destinations across the globe: from sleeping in a yurt in Mongolia to suffering anaphylactic shock in Moldova to hearing a lion roar just a few feet away in South Africa, these globetrotters have seen it all. Hall of Fame winners often take the travel experience to the next level, and this year, one member went "Around the World in 80 Meals" while another took her two-year-old daughter to 20 countries.

IgoUgo asked their Hall of Fame members why they love to travel…and talk about it:

"Writing for IgoUgo allows me to share my experiences with people who actually want to know about them; sure my friends and family like to hear my traveling tales, but they only want to hear so much. At IgoUgo, I get read by people who really want to know where I've been and what it was like." —IgoUgo member fizzytom

"I believe travel is so important because it opens a person's eyes up more than almost any other human experience. Being able to see and experience other cultures and meet people in very different situations than your own allows you to realize that underneath it all is the same thread…that we're all humans." —IgoUgo member airynfaerie

"Travel compels you to see the world through other people’s perspectives and thereby enriches your own." —IgoUgo member Owen Lipsett
